Glutathione - Your Most Powerful Antioxidant!

What is Glutathione?

Remarkably, most people have never heard of glutathione.

Yet, it's your body’s most powerful antioxidant!

It is present in every cell in your body.

How is Glutathione made?

Glutathione is quite simple really.  It is made from just three amino acids; glycine, glutamate, and cysteine.

Most cells can make their own glutathione.  But... nerve cells can’t.

They rely on special supporting cells - called 'glial cells' -  to help.

What does Glutathione do?

Glutathione takes part in many cell processes.  Most importantly, it protects against ‘oxidative stress.’

Oxidative stress is an imbalance between pro-oxidants and antioxidants.

Oxidative stress plays a key role in many brain degenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease.

How can I 'boost' my Glutathione levels to protect against oxidative stress?

Of the three amino-acids needed to make glutathione, cysteine is the most critical.

In the brain, glutathione levels are strongly influenced by the supply of cysteine.

Glial cysteine - and hence glutathione in nerve cells - can be increased by taking N-acetylcysteine (NAC).

This is why NAC is included in Betrinac.   And why its unique formulation is so special!

NAC also helps the brain in many other ways.

In our next Blog we will look at some of the other beneficial effects of NAC.
